A song for Sukkoth

The neighbors think we’re wacky it might seem a trifle odd,
This house that we are building - right it our own back yard.
It is a house that let’s the rain in, where you can feel the autumn wind.
It’s a Sukkah, we’re building in our yard.

Oh, we are building us a Sukkah, why don’t you come and have a look at
The little Sukkah, we’re building in our yard?
Our Sukkah shows we know God loves us, and that we trust in what’s above us,
The little Sukkah we’re building in our yard.

Amid the shining decorations, we will share our food and wine.
Beneath a canopy of branches we will marry space and time.
Our song of joy will lead us to a place where heaven hums along,
In the Sukkah we’re building in our yard.

Long ago there was a Sukkah that was built of only clouds.
When we journeyed through the desert it kept us safe and sound.
Each year we find that love and shelter within the simple walls
Of the Sukkah we’re building in our yard.

Wherever Jews are living you will find this tent of peace.
