To the midwives of the Hebrews
Pharaoh gave this command:

If it is a son, do away with him;
If a daughter, she shall live then.
But the midwives feared Jehovah
And did not as Pharaoh bid!

Therefore God dealt well with the midwives,
And the Hebrews multiplied.
For the midwives feared Jehovah
And did not as Pharaoh bid!
